Hobie 70's Single Fin Shortboard Restoration
Hobie 70's Single Fin Shortboard Restoration
Finally finished this restoration project up - http://www2.swaylocks.com/node/1023285 - there was at least three coats of primer on this board, which made it very hard sanding. The nose and all of the tail was completely smashed, I had to pull all of the glass off around the tail - looks like it had been put into a fire or melted or something. I would have liked to save the graphic on the bottom, but there were just too many dings.
I stripped the paint
Stripped the hoatcoat
Fixed alot of dings
Rebuilt the nose and tail
Hot coat
Sand
Acrylic Primer & Paint
Acrylic Gloss Coat
I'd psyched to surf this thing - its very floaty and looks like it will be a nice addition to the quiver - saved one from the dead.
Next restoration project I'll work with some pigmented glass to see the difference - thanks for the swaylocks crew for the questions answered.
6'4" single fin.
