I just read through the recent information about scaqmd and mact and about the future of styrene content in our resins. Sounds like we will all be out of business soon unless someone comes up with a solution. What do you guys see as to what will become of the surfboard industry?
You can use low VOC polyesters or use non-VOC epoxy, or a quality clear 2 part urethane, or you can bail. Sluggo
Low VOC polyesters are not as applicable to surfboards as they are to boats, Jacuzzis, etc. Urethanes need some real r&d before they're ready for production. Epoxies for boards are 20 years into the r&d process and have become quite sophisticated and have significant advantages over polyesters. Welcome to the 21st century.
