once upon a time ... someone jumping on them with abuse and negativity....
that fellow you speak of did all that once too often, only to get back what he put out in heaps, lasting to this day. who was it who said something about doing unto others, and reaping what one sows hmm ..
cheers,
This is the truth.
When Roy was here he reaped what he sowed.
That said, Roy is NOT here anymore.
IMO, it's pretty chickensh!t to take shots at someone who can't fire back.
Roy's approach is not like mine, but he is not from where I am from, and yet he does alright in my eyes. He steps to his own beat, and rides what he believes in and makes. Nonetheless, not impressed, but not repulsed either; keep doing your own thing Roy and let the crabs boil.
I suspected there might be some interest in the subject, being outside the box as it is, and a real departure from Roy's usual stuff (I have found anything far enough outside the box will rock the boat, i.e. jick bottoms, fat penguin, gemini pickle fork, etc.)
No one else mentioned it, but what seemed most significant to me is that this latest from Roy is a step closer to the mainstream surfboard world, i.e., lightweight foam boards, under 8', machine shaped, and, I'm assuming, most likely priced more in the realm of standard off-the-rack boards.

There are lots of boards in short to mid length which I have designed but I want to be able to do them quickly and both offer them at a good price and have a bunch available to ride and put in the shop.
I refrained from any commentary, just presented the info figuring that if there's no interest the thread would die out, but for all those (like yourself) who had enough interest in the subject to post comments, they could.
BTW, off topic, but how are you holding up there in the Philippines? Good to see you posting here with all thats gone down lately over there, what's your insight / observations on the devastation? Horrific photos coming out in the news right now, hope all is well with you and yours.
Sad to see that the ''Politically Correct Virus'' has been contracted by so many, here on Swaylocks. Everything negative, that has been said about Roy, has been WELL EARNED by Roy. `He IS harvesting, what he has sown. Take a look at the venom he spews, on other forums, about people he dislikes or disagrees with. People who DO NOT PARTICPATE on those other forums, and cannot ''fire back,'' as has been pointed out. Just because a fellow ''does his own thing,'' does NOT earn him a pass for being WRONG AT THE TOP OF HIS VOICE ! Roys designs would have been quite advanced in 1938, a mere 75 years ago. That same 75 years, is how far behind his designs are, in the world of today.
I'd hardly call what he does "surfing". It's as backward and ungainly as SUPing, if not worse.

What chrisp said. Kind of chickenshit taking a shot at anyone from the safety of a keyboard. Just saying..... Mike
