Mr happy -Iam glad you feel this was neat!I really hope we see you in the water[smile]I hope you swim really neat also.Your love is sincere also .Iam also glad you are gone.Iam sure rich will be happy to make you a board also!!!Bye
A while back, I made and sold a shaping tool to a "know" shaper...I didn't get any money for months... What I did, was come here on Swaylocks and ASK THE QUESTION "WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF THIS HAPPENED TO YOU..." and I didn't name names... I got a wide variety of answers, most of which seem to be reflected above... Friends of the "known" shaper connected the dots, clued him in and shortly thereafter I was paid...His reputation intact...As it turned out someone working for him absconded with the money...Life goes on... I would have felt like an over-reactive idiot if I were to consiously dis-credit someone ... You guys went to far, to fast... Paul http://www.hollowsurfboards.com
Well, since everyone else is saying their piece, let me chime in...over the last 20+ years I bought a number of shaped fish blanks from Lis and two finished boards from Rich Pavel and each time I ended up with really great sticks. The process was never a typical business transaction. It took a while to track the guys down in the first place, and a few extra phone calls to find out the status of my order, with variable delays and extensions on the delivery. But that never seemed like a problem to me, it was just the reality of the way they worked. Both of them made the best boards of the type I wanted, so I just rolled with it, and in the end I was satisfied. I fear that if you try to force that process into a credit card/production schedule type of impatient efficiency, you're not going to get the best board possible.
Look I appoligize to Rich and to anyone else who was offended by my remarks, I was just getting a little ansy trying to get my money thats all. NO hard feelings? And rich if that is really you I hope you didn't shape that board!!
Mr. Happy, I don't think you should stop posting here. Just go a little slower and lighter on peoples reputations. Perhaps next time you could attack a design concept. Whatever you decide to do, it was good to see that you have the strenght of character to apologize in public. Take care and go slow! Patrick
I've changed my mind. I want Bubba to shape my next board.
How big d'ya wan't yer b,b,b,b,board?Skeeter.I'ma,I'ma,I'ma,I'ma glad ta see you ain't still sore at me for d,d,d,d,d,d,droppin' in on ya at the ol' surfin' hole. But I tole' you w,w,w,watch out ya,bottom feedin', good-fer-nothin',cow-poke,I'ma,I'ma,I'ma,going right,ya lughead.
So, Austin and Mr. Happy are one in the same. If nothing else, this passive / aggressive approach will be a learning experience for you. My take is that this is a classic younger buyer trying to use his modern, instant gratification, technique that worked so well on his mom and pop, discounting the lifetime of process that Pavel has incorporated into his surfboard building. After all, you wanted him, now you got him, or had him. Pulling all of this through the mud might teach you to think before you speak(or type). If you go back and read your own posts you might see the pattern of aggression and then pulling back afterwards only to nip at his heals again. What could you expect by flogging the guy on the internet? Well, I guess you have a better idea now. Your own reputation has now shown itself, and I bet you’re never going to get a board made with any passion. Pavel would have put his soul into your board, now, your outta luck friend. I see the only way to resurrect any kind of credibility is to bow to the master. It’s a hard lesson to learn, now you’re learning it. No drought Rich is aware of your huge thread. Do something that is above all of this nonsense, or let this be another feather in your cap, your choice.
Mr. "like network television", it's called business, something you have yet to learn, living at your parents house gives you a unique view of the world, please conserve that money your grandmother left you. Can't wait for our to apply at the Starbucks I managed....in closing maybe you shoud wank your own MR. Happy more, tension drains right out.....Soy Lattes for All.
