Thank you! It was my first true resin swirl attempt. I'm stoked on how it came out, can't wait for the next. The board rides great. 9'2" a little short for me but I can still hang 5 no problem
So I did a squeegee skim coat of lam resin, trying to fill in the dots and make them as smooth as possible. Bottom worked well, deck harder due to the roll. Ran the gauntlet and glassed using 6oz without doing second resin coat. I don't want to risk the board to be so heavy it won't ever see water.
A few tiny air bubbles on the deck, but not the end of the world. Pretty happy so far.. be good to see it with fin plugs/box in and a hot coat.
Popping in here time to time to get inspired and see whats up , thought id post something for a change:)
Really like the effect your getting with the bias and white filler I'm assuming Lemat? looks very cool .
My latest epoxy/pu/linen for a friend:
3 boards freshly delivered to a shop. Midlength, a 7', a 7'2 and a 7'4. Single concave to subtle Vee out the tail. Slightly Beveled bottom rails. Split resin tints and split resin pinlines, 4+1. Glossed deck, matte rails and bottoms. matte logo (cannot really see that on the pics).
nice boards mangouste like the colours and plan shape, looks just like what I built
7'6'' x 22'' x 2 7/8''
Kinetix epoxy lam, with a reichold gloss coat.
Just finished this thick little 5'4 twin fin. Went to its new home last night. He mostly shaped it, and I glassed it for him. Still working on a nice clean (not wavy) cutlap technique. Aesthetically ugly, but structurally sound.
Also a pic of a black tail dip on a 2+1 7 foot speed eggy thing
About 5 years ago Paul Naude brought me a stripped balsa Kivlin.
It was in very bad shape, someone had run a half inch router around it top and bottom creating a random router doodle and then filled it all with Bondo.
Both rails had wood with pith, one being a good inch in diameter, but filled with plaster.
Screw holes, bad patches, anything to f it up.
I've cleaned it up as best with my grit planer, plotted out how much rail to saw off and replace with old balsa that is termite galleried as the remainder of the board has termite damage.
Here's a few pics of the damage and start to redemption
