the people buy those boards for the fuckin marketing...money, money money, ex. fernando aguerre reef´´ owner is from Argentina; move to california-the better what he did-...he had got money to put advertisement on first page in every surfin´´ magazine, money to promote pro surfers..., etc even in other sports... --support your good garage, backyard or small builder or shaper, glasser or sander---
also the best shapers are the ghost ones who work for these peoples... and of course the natural ones everybody knows... if your a builder and your board ride very well, man you´´re in a good way...
hey, the reef guys borrowed money to start their business -- I know because a friend of mine was smart enough to loan some of it to them -- why blame them for being sucessful by putting pictures of pretty girls where guys will look at them?
fernando aguerre is or was the owner and i don{t blame him... it{s an example of marketing and the money to do that...and also fernando don{t surf very well...
Keith, Frankly, I don't understand why people buy a bunch of sandles because of girls rumps. I have a hard time with a company whose sandles are not any better than any other less expensive sandle, yet these poor suckers pay the dollars because of some girls rear. We really have sunken low. Same for buying the latest and ugliest pair of boardshorts by Volcom because Bruce Irons wears them in an ad. Hype. As for getting what you ordered; you should get what you ordered if it's reasonable. I will not take an order for a board if it's some weird dims. or etc. because I know many of those situations cannot be resolved and many shapers will simply say no anyway. I had a beginer who wanted a 5'10'' 17.5 wide pointy nose thruster. He 170lbs and 6 feet tall. I told him to go to a competitor because it was not the right board. He did and was back within 6 months to me for a nice Cheater which he still rides.
im with reverb ,,,only coz it suits me ,,,i been building boards for a few contracted pros , i make em clear so they can put there labels on em ,(no one has any idea where they come from) kinda feels kool when crew pay for one of mine rather than ride another for free ,one there being paid 50 k plus to ride as well mind you,,, all the hype, fashion ,marketing, its an illusion ,but the reality is ,thats show business..... just a matter of where you wanna fit in the scene ,.... as for me i just wanna fit in the slot of an emerald green liped beauty as shes throwing herself over me and not be bothered by the commercial leech thats attached itself to my favourite past time..... regards BERT
