Looking for info and valuations on a greenough kneeboard

How do I add pics ?

it’s a greenough / spindrift small wave kneeboard from Santa Barbara

The edge part of the board is a Greenough design. Most likely shaped by Rich Reed in Goleta and looks like glassed by Bob Haakenson. Rich shaped a lot of edge sail boards in the 80’s and they all had the Greenough Design logo as well. Hard to say on value, nobody realy outside of SB really knows the label and you’d need to give a shot of the deck for someone to give you an honest opinion. I’m interested just from a collecting standpoint.

I do remember the “Spindrift Surfboards” brand.   70’s. ??

Regarding if is from the 70s. The brand could be; I do not know but the board seems from the 90s. S2 glass by Hexcel (not existed in the 70s nor in the 80s); type and tints on the logotypes (do not existed those designs on the 70s); outline (too 90s); pencil signature (not on 70s boards); classic 90s finish.

I agree with reverb. The fin setup alone indicates it’s a 90s board.

If you are on Facebook there are a number of groups you may want to join where a wider knowledge base is possible. There is Vintage Surfboard Valuations, and two different groups named Vintage Surfboard Collectors. I believe there’s also a kneeboard group? Can’t say for sure.

At least two kneeboard FB groups I know of:;‘Kneeboard Surfing’ which is private/by invite from a current member only and 'Kneelo Cove which is open to the general public. Sign in, do a search. There may well be other, more discerning groups with higher qualitative membership standards who haven’t invited my obnoxious old self.

Agree on the vintage, I would be surprised if GG ever saw or heard of the board. Nothing especially historical about it, i doubt that there’s any provenance that would make it a must-have for somebody’s collection.

Having said that, if the price is reasonable, buy it and surf it. Looks like it could be fun.

hope that’s of use
