RIP RICH HARBOUR

We lost another giant.

Sad news indeed.  Condolences to his family and friends.

A buddy of mine from Signal Hill brought a couple of Rich’s boards up to the Central Coast in the 70’s .  One of them was a very nice 7’10 California Gun.  Pulled in Narrow “Diamond Tail”.   Beautiful shape.  Functional at places like the Canyon and Killers.

I should point out that a whole troop of people in the “Industry” got their early opportunity or start with Rich Harbor.  A lot of the Seal Beach and some of the Hunington crew who are fairly big names now were in some way or at one time or another affiliated with Rich Harbour.

Yup.

You want big names?** Dick Brewer** and** Robert August **both started out working for Rich.

Among other things, Rich was an early adopter of 8 oz glass jobs. He was doing double 8 oz as early as 1965.

Dean Elliot and Mike Marshall also shaped for Rich in the early/mid 60s.

Not to mention that the “Trestle Special” and “The Cheater” were two of the most iconic board models of all time.

SHOW US YOUR HARBOURS!

30 year anniversary, making it a 30 year old right?
