Hwy. 1 Closed Again

Well the annual closing (seems like it anyway) of Hwy. 1 due to rock or mudslides has occured again. Due to the “Atmospheric River” storm that hit California Sunday into Monday, a rock slide occured just north of Ragged Point. It’s not as bad as last years’ and apparently the highway will be closed from Ragged Point up to Gorda for one to two weeks.

Geologists aren’t sure whether it was all due to the rain or coupled with the 4.7 earthquake we just had at the southern border of Big Sur. Felt strongly in San Simeon. Probably a combination of both factors.

Yeah- I saw that in later reports. Funny thing is that I was home in Cayucos that afternoon & I didn’t feel the 4.7 or the 3.3 aftershock.
