that was awesome.
Don't eat the yellow snow.
Surfboards made by hand. Not machine.
wow, we got the date-of-post heading back, and I didn't even notice until this thread - cool!
I would prefer my board yellow, than it to look like DUUDE-oooh, SammyAAA.
yellow = soul
new boards ,fresh paint don't know nuthin
ain't been nowhere in the light of day
never saw a red tide, tar ball,
tall chick's bikin; slip down
in a shorebreak plunge.
old yellow boards are cool head .
already took plenny drops
got old wax shadow sunburn.
Jess Jellow es muy bien.
unless it was an old yater
then the green turned
to suntan parchment brown
Mike Duncan bought Mike kearney's
double t-band ten foot yater,
rich deepening brown,
the envy of all around the campfire at
Pedro creek where he surfed
in reversed boxer underwear.
cool is what you choose.
wax a car?Or just go surf?
save is the new post

Too much catalyst in the lam, will cause the foam to yellow more rapidly. Sometimes in as little as two or three weeks. Lam on warm days, use less catalyst.
I'd like to flip the topic around......What makes a board stay white???? Reason I ask the question is my son has a Super Brand board that he got used. Its now 2 summers old. He's beaten the board to death. It spent the entire summer practically outdoors being surfed by a stoked 13 year old. When it wasn't in the water it was baking in the sun on the sand or in his bike racks. It even has a few neglected dings in it.
Somehow....some way......this board has managed to stay brilliant white. It is traditional PU/PE construction. I'm guessing whatever foam they used for this board has superior UV caracteristics. I'd like to know the secret why this board has stayed so white despite its rough life. This board is still whiter than a few new ones on the rack in the local shop.
The white board stayed white because the blank was painted white before glassing. Ghettoerat, making a board yellow will just make you complain about the yellow fadding. I used to glass all my boards yellow cause it would hide allmost all the screw ups ! Some where in the swaylocks rules it says you cant call anyone names ! So no Duuuuuudes or pricks. Ya, I know you think I am an asshole but you can't say so !
Woody, I have and never will call anyone here an A-hole, because that's not my style. Never even thought you were one for a moment. if you think I am one, that's just you.
Too much emphasis on board color around here. Who cares.
club colors are of utmost importance
I have repainted my club twice
each time I changed neighborhoods.
now is your pick-up truck white?
or black,or red?
if it's yellow
it's a schoolbus.
