Nabbed this at a garage sale.........7 ft gun, resin tinted deck, hand pin lined stringer, and easily 11 inches of rocker! 0739 serial number under the Yater logo. Can anyone date this board??
having been in proximity to the reynolds sphere of influence since the early 60's [ read yater spoonful, minnie gun and modern era trifin speed shapes - personally ordered and shaped with 'the man'- ] the give away has to be img 2713:
the rocker -all low in the rear and stuck up nose in the front,
the foil with 'humpback'
and 's' rail line - think that's what we called the higher nebulas rail in the nose and 's-ing' down to lower in the tail-
and a crowned deck to pinch rail the lack of down railer configuration
all add up to a 'bestguess'...1968-1972ish.
please note...the template can still be found in use today even, an outline of 'maestro' proportions but the side view is the dead give away as well as the decal...renny didn't use his name in the decal until well into the short board period. so i'll leave you with an 8ft single fin yater cali-gun that i had approx. 1977 the foil was mucho more refined with modern rocker, having proper tail lift and curve to appropraite nose lift as well as a flat deck to down rail down rail lead to many norcal cold on tap chargers...
