surf Report In G-land October 8th 2011

****It’s getting more and more interesting to me how the
wind patterns are doing what they are doing.  It’s not important that i
can’t figure it out what forces are causing the offshore to begin well
after midday.  But nice to keep a connection with the elements
surrounding us, like how a farmer cultivates that sense of connection
with the earth over time.  Seems real complex, but maybe it’s no
different than those days when by 7 AM the winds are already going off,
just the variablility has swung to the other side of  the average time
when the trade winds begin their daily movement .   Today, they started
to blow at exactly 3…yesterday is was about 2…the day before that was
also pretty late if i remember correctly.  But it’s nice that good winds
are still showing presence each day.

Another day with clean dawn conditions followed by real variable
winds.  Nothing too strong to destroy the wave face and since the swell
was running the reef cleanly, it was probably one of the better onshore
sessions possible.  8-10 foot faces and for sure some double overhead
sets coming through.  Eveything showing their face once again.  Money
Trees was recieving the best sets…Fang really piping off once the
offshore came up.  Some sets and Inside Pad…Fan Palms lining up,
Kongs…Tigertracks in the morning.  Yup…everything showing their face at
the right tide to reveal themselves.

But it was the sunset session that was happening.  A serious pulse
came in, lasting almost an hour and consistently breaking up to 12 foot
faces and really staying hollow.  The few surfers that got it hopefully
gave thanks for it, since that was the prime “surf window of the day.”
I’m sure they noticed the difference in quality.

Aloha g-land, We were having the same thing happening on Kauai starting in 05 and we started having less trade wind days and more variable wind days. We used to have about 9 months of trades a year but then it started changing and now it's about only 7 months a yearand the rest is either kona or variable winds. The world is changing and some of us are seeing it while other don't. Aloha,Kokua

yup bro…now The world is changing…
