Tamarack Boards 60's log, anyone know about them? Pics

My buddy picked this up from one of his customers in San Diego. It was stored under their house and when he asked about it, they said just take it. It has a very interesting fin for it’s age, but other than a super scooped out nose (partially missing) it looks like an old school noserider. There aren’t any visible markings or signatures on it. He is just interested in knowing what he has and anything about Tamarack Surfboards. Thanks…

i got one

it was really beat up when i got it but its a fun ride now

SD: Thanks for the info. Your board has faired better than my friend’s, his has 6-10 inches of nose missing and a large delam under the nose. He wants to ride it, so I don’t know if the glass around the nose needs to be stripped and reshaped and reglassed or how to approach the repair. Thanks again…

What’s the length on yours? Looks like an early transition shape. I like the pinlines on the bottom. Very unique.

hey Sammy the board is an 8’6, it had a first generation Bahne box in it that was really loose so i took it out and put in a modern fu box, im thinking the board is around a 1968 or something around that and yes those pin lines are classic, i like them alot

celticskunk- you might want to try and fix the delam first then get a piece of foam and try and reshape and reglass the nose, good luck and if you need any help you can always swing by my shop

There's a dirt parking lot at the end of Palomar Airport Road...aka Turn arounds...I see cars in the lot with Tamarack Surfboards stickers in their back windows.....the rumor I heard was that someone related to the orginal shaper was restarting the brand....just a rumor....time to go surfing......

Looks like a reverse engeneered copy of the FCS 3d wingtip fin. Bastards…

Hi There,

My name is Chris Hecklinger and Tamarack Surfboards was owned by my grandfather Frank, who has passed away.  He loved to create unique board and fin designs.  He was an inventer at heart and you’ll see that in his board shapes.  The earlier comment was right.  A couple of the Hecklinger clan surf at the end of Palomar Road, just look for the stickers.  They love seeing the old boards so if you’re close you should swing by and show them to his sons Ron and Bob.

Cheers,

Chris
