sorry - you see a big cuttie trench, I see heart disease with clogged arteries, hypertension, high blood pressure, diabetes, liver and kidney failure, and a group of friends doing an ash ceremony paddleout in a few years.

“It’s his choice.”

Yea, at a direct cost to us.  Smokers + obesity = billions of $$ a year in impact on our healthcare system, either paid for by tax dollars or increased insurance premiums ‘averaged’ to include them into overall delivery of services.

There’s old surfers, there’s obese surfers, ain’t no old obese surfers, usually gone in their 50’s, rarely ever make it into their late 60’s.

When we were kids the fat kid was a sad rarity.  We were always on the go outside, not stuck in front of the big screen playing video games for endless hours with the mouth open.  Not queued up in line for a Macclogger, fries and 100 oz.sugar drink.   Now one in three adults and kids in America is obese.

All this talk about the fiscal cliff and Obamacare.  No one talking about the obesity epidemic and the cost to our country.  Not  politically correct, protected by ADA.

My wife works as a nurse consultant guiding injured workers through their medical treatment and back to work.  The obese patients usually take 2x to 3x as much time to get back to work, and their “special needs” and additional care will cost 2x to 3x as much, as the non obese injured worker will require.

Sorry, rant over.  Nice trench…

Dare you to cut him off…props for paddling out and doing what you enjoy… looks like he knows what he’s doing too.

What’s he going to do when a toe, foot or leg comes off, Boogie Kalama died from diabetes complications, Greg Noll was at dinner with him in the islands, Boogie ordered a giant sundae, dug in his spoon and came up with a scoop of ice dream, “here go one toe”, another big scoop, “der goes un 'nudda toe”.

My father’s mother, death of a whale, my father’s brother, death of a whale, my wife’s first husband, dead before 35, diabetes. Shrosbee is a hard diabetic, had a couple of close calls. My step daughter is a sack of lard, her mother shrugs her shoulders.

I’m soon to be 67 years old, I cannot live forever, but don’t drink but a beer or 3 a week, never smoked, have my weight a 160, I ain’t giving the devil a helping hand, I’ve got things to do in the next ten years before taking the eternal dirt nap

Ben im sure i saw that bloke in one omag or another. Lives in bali. Something like 4'' thick, not sure the rest. Big boy alright!

Wouldn’t want to be paddling around anywhere near him in the line up.

Plenty of trapped bodily waste and the like being washed out of his fat rolls could leave a nasty slick.

Based on your habits, Jim, you should get at least another 20…funny thing about living, the longer you live, the longer you will live.  Make it to 60, chances mo betta you’ll make it to 75.  make it to 75, damn good chance of making 85…and if you can age and still remain fit, active and mobile, still plenty of good living to do…gotta look no further then Woody!

Looks like a Brewer logo?

Looks like the same logo I have on a Duke pop out…early 60’s

Duh…you were referring to the big guy’s board!!

roger

You can see him surfing on youtube.

Jim if your into craft beers you can have a read here and see there are some real health benefits from great tasting beers! Hell I’m enjoying the health benefits right now! Thinking my next build project is gonna be a brew room!

Cheers,

Ryan

I spent a miserable 3 months on a blue Duke pop-out in 62’, learning to standup and trying to turn.  Tippiest damn board ever made.  The day I traded that in on a Wardy was almost as good as having sex for the first time…hell, it was probably better…lol

And since the subject has somehow drifted to the wholesome, wonderful, life sustaining health benefits of beer....

Mine is blue also…got it mid 80’s from a guy…rode it only once at Malibu…corkiest board I ever rode…

This should be reason enough for anyone John!

According to the New England Journal of Medicine, “Just 10 minutes of staring at the
charms of a well endowed female is roughly equivalent to a 30 minute
aerobics workout,” declared gerontologist Dr. Karen Weatherby.
Dr. Weatherby and fellow researchers at three hospitals in
Frankfurt, Germany, reached the startling conclusion after comparing the health
of 200 male outpatients – half of whom were instructed to look at
busty females daily, the other half told to refrain from doing so.
The study revealed that after five years, the chest watchers had
lower blood pressure, slower resting pulse rates and fewer instances
of coronary artery disease.

“Honest, honey, it’s not porn, it’s my cardio-workout”

Ha!  I’ll take that dare.  The only way da fat boy whip my a$$ is if he fall on me.  LCC is absolutly right…
