Righto mates, it's time for me to go. I have always been uncomfortable here, since my early forays about my wing fin. I don't know John Mellor and he is probably a good bloke. Here's the thing, you Americans want guns, go ahead, he JM, came into our world promoting your gun laws. Mitchell Rae and I have been best mates since we were 7, he was polite to you John on facebook, I will be too. That is our forum, amongst friends. You guys are free to pay the living piss out of me, personally, I'm sick of your weak shit, have been for ever. There are a few exceptions and those guys know who they are, so stick up for your gun laws and leave me the fuck out of here, cheers H.
Good Bye. I must admit though I have no idea what you are talking about.
????????
I think Harris is the guy who told me to fark off or something a while back. Whatever, I think he probably has a valid point though about the need for guns as in there really isn't much need now compared to yesterday. The wild west is inside you so be careful when you go west young man. Whatever, I've owned a winchester model 12 pump shotgun and woodmaster 30-06 since I was a teen. Both were my father's guns. Shot the shotgun for the first time at the age of 5 with my father. The 06 is a brute of a rifle. I usually prefer the long range .22 semi A. Long story short: Don't kill what you can't eat. Just go to the supermarket or get a fishing pole. Leave the guns only to responsible adults. Dont keep your ammo with your gun in a family living situation. Don't be a show-off. Get your girl a can of mace or a taser, you might want one for yourself.

Merry Christmas.
Ducks, pheasant, rabbit, venison. That time of year. Humans aren't on my list. Thank god, you Alfred Packers you.
Mr. Harris,
If you're still peeking in. I've always enjoyed your post. But, what the F...k does a gun control discussion on Facebook have to do with a surfboard design website? If you've always been uncomfortable why did you bother participating at all? Who's weak shit are you sick of? Swaylocks or the US? I don't get it and am hoping for clarification.
Anyway, I always wonder why guys make an announcement they are leaving. Just leave. Few will notice.
I don't bother with Facebook. I have enough 'friends.' I always thought it was more of a chick type thing/place. Regardless, I wish you well. Mike
Gun control...
i sure as shit hope you are not trying to take the piss on mitcheal rae or harry where gun boards are required
cheers huie
now retired
Not sure the quote will embed as intended and my intention is not to high-jack the forum, but.....since the door is partially open...... I can recall a member in the past year reaching out to others here for assistance regarding his daughter's safety as she was some distance from him. Others here immediately volunteered to act as his surrogate.
There are several threads discussing health issues, personal experiences, treatments, outcomes, how to deal with the emotional/psycholocgical aspects of set backs. We are all here to share or consume the knowlege of design and surfing experiences, but first and foremost we are humans so maybe it's not so unreasonable to think that discussion of the recent tragedy would spill over into our forum (and certainly to FB).
Occaisonally very good ideas come from unlikely sources. But in order for most discussions to be fruitfull, egos will probably have to be set aside. Hopefully you've not fallen asleep or vomitted in your mouth at this juncture. The practicality of the matter is that it is highly unlikely that guns will be outlawed here. You'd be equally likely to outlaw alcohol again. The lobby is too strong to get rid of them and honestly should a pump gun used for game hunting be outlawed? But do you really need an AR-15 to hunt deer or varmits?
And yes mental health should be factored in to our general health discussion at the congressional level, but did it take Sandy Hook ES to revive this discussion? Nothing is 100% guaranteed, so looking at a complete ban on firearms or looking at just the mental health side of things does not seem to be a likely solution.
Entropy (noun; from the English); (1) a measure of a thermodynamic system's increasing disorder as it approaches equilibrium. (2) thermodynamic happy place. Usage; "Entropy abounds in my workshop".
I GET it. Thanks, Huck!
This is not the first time this type of event has occurred, nor is this type of event isolated to the US. (http://listverse.com/2008/01/01/top-10-worst-school-massacres/) Stockton 1989 - Cleveland School was similar and the anti-gun crowd responded in a similar fashion. How? By banning the same type of military styled semi-automatic rifle that was used in the killings. Peter Jennings did an excellent program shortly after and an interesting demonstration was made comparing the ballistic power of an 'assault rifle' vs a high powered hunting rifle. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-t5_X7_vMs) It really boils down to hysteria and public relations. The politicians are faced with a situation in which they have to do something, even if it is irrational. They seem blind to the facts - that mental health funding cuts have left a lot of mental health patients fending for themselves. (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2011/03/09/AR201103...) The knee-jerk reaction among politicians is to 'Hang the hardware' and ban assault rifles because they look scary. Fact is, the pretty polished/checkered wood stocks of the high powered hunting rifles (many also available as semi-automatic) are far more capable of blowing your head off than a semi-automatic 'assault' rifle. FULL automatic rifles are already illegal but like the old saying goes, "When guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns" - illegal full automatics are indeed already in the hands of criminals and being used regularly against rival criminals and cops. We are indeed living in a sick society. Until we are able to gain control of criminals and the mentally ill, we are destined to have continued episodes like Stockton, Newtown, Columbine, etc. We don't need more gun control laws. We need better enforcement of existing laws and better funding for mental health facilities. The vast majority of gun owners are responsible citizens and use the guns properly - for hunting, target shooting and home defense. International associations of gun owners exist and members participate in competitive events including the olympics. Even Australia (though some Australians only like to point their fingers at the "red neck imbeciles" in the US) has a few gun enthusiast associations.... (http://www.ssaa.org.au/) (http://www.foaa.com.au/) (http://www.vra.asn.au/) (http://www.riflesa.asn.au/) (http://www.qldrifle.com/) (http://www.beaudesertrifleclub.com.au/) (http://bmrcinc.com.au/) (http://www.darlingdownsrc.com.au/) (http://www.goldcoastrifleclub.com.au/) the list goes on and on....
