Folk's - I just had gotten myself into a real cool sitch! I saw my high school best friend invited me to his 50th Birthday Party out in SANTA CRUZ!!! I'm doubly stoked!:D There's going to be Alternative rock, babes, sudz and a few surf nutz!?#? Lol. Anyway, My friend, myself and about four other guys back in the day - we'd go on local surf safaris, or find new beaches, and or coves to surf! This is one of my surf buds I haven't seen for over 25 yrs! Well, I didn't know what to get him for his Birthday so........, I offered to shape him a custom board!!!! :D But I'm having him supply the blank, get it glassed, and ofcourse I'm shaping his dream board! He sounds totally stoked, so I'll let him draw up what he wants- so we'll just have to wait and see what he wants!? Then I'll work my magic and shape him the best board he's ever owned! The cool thing about it all is, I don't know wth he wants yet?! But I told him to get a piece of paper and draw it up, and tell me what you want. I'm excited! I don't know what to expect? But as you can see, this board I'll shape is my next project#!!!-Jim

The reason is, that I have little interest in it. Not that I can't. As to the side stepping, I see no point in interrupting any aspect of the shaping or building process to take photo's to thump my chest about. The finished product is all that counts. My guess solid, look at the balsa really good stuff and thick in the center with pleanty redwood /cedar damn bitchen blank!

The balsa board is a 9 foot 10 inch exact copy of a board of mine, including the stringer pattern, that I made and rode in 1959. The dark wood stringers are redwood. The board is solid balsa, done the ''old fashioned way.'' Lightest wood to the center, heavier wood to the rails, where most of it will be cut away. I do not recall how much the finished board weighed. The only thing not true to the original, is the glass bead on the fin. The original board did not have a bead on the fin. I made the original board when I was 18 years old.
