Folk's - I picked up my cloth outta storage and I found out I forgot one layer of cloth. So I have dub four oz, I got fin rope and my lam resin + hardener. The plan is to do dub four deck, single six on bottom. Whadya think? Would that be ok? Or should i just get another layer of four and do dub four/ four on da bottom. How many cc's of cat for a quart of resin? I thought I heard 7 cc's oer quart? Also, how do setup for a resin swirl job? Do I want to make 1/2 cups of various colors to drip into the main color? And how much cat wouldn't be right for a 1/2 cup? Sorry for the questions, but It's been yrs since I glassed and I actually forgot how !:0 any help would be MUCH APPRECIATED! Have a great day. JIM

You can pretty much do any combination of fiberglass. It really depends on the shape, rider and preference. The 4x4 ounce deck and single 6 ounce bottom isn't a deal breaker. Here's a couple of vids that will help you on your way.

Thanks Grant for posting those vids. Otis is an awesome glasser. I've seen them before but forgot about the electric mixers. Looked like he was whippin' up a vanila shake. Those neoprerne gloves look like they have spent a few nights in acetone. Those 6 or 9 inch rols of paper can be cut dwn to 3 inch with a chop saw. Lowel

If that's what I had, I would go 6 deck with 4 oz deck patch, and 4 oz. bottom.
I glass with epoxy exclusively, so can't help you there.

Use a higher density blank and try shape as much from the bottom as you can. I have 4 x 4 decks that have stayed solid for months.

Shapa, Don't use spackle on polyurethane foam. No need to. Yellow plastic squeegee is good for any resin. I've used a piece of cardboard with the edge taped. I don't recommend it tho. Mike

This is funie, I just got done laying downsome sweat lamiantion on this orange egg. i use the same glassing schedile. I did like 6 bottom and 2,4 top. I went with a stright orange tint som all my color would look even a perfect. So much time on the shaping iwant to make sure the glas was perfcet.

Dude heres smoe better close up of the ride, check it out. if you wrnt some hint and tips on how i got this sweet look with the squeegee just ask and ill tell all of my secrets. 1. best to use a clean suqeegee, 2 keep going from back to front with the squeegee. 3 work fast so the resin wont kick off untill im alll done with the squeegee. 4 i wok it until it kicks off.

The best thing you could do would be to use UV. Glassing outside(if that's what you had in mind) is a bitch, Not advisable no matter what resin you use. Deck 6/6, 6/4, 4/4. Bottom single 6 or single 4 oz. Any combo works. It just depends on what you are after. Strength or weight. 10 cc for a quart. Lowel

don't know if I wanna do this but I'll stick my toe in the water. You start a lot of threads. A lot. Ah, ok. Cool. I have previously taken the advice to avoid your threads but they have become entertaining in a way that news clips of NASCAR accidents are. You can't take your eyes off the carnage. If you are asking some of the questions you do then try to avoid sounding like you know what you're doing or have been shaping for 20 years. Bridges have not been burned, they have been blown up. This place can get contentious as is, please try to avoid self immolation.
