I am pretty impressed with the art! Looks exceptionally good against the black background. I know I have seen that style and technique before, but can't remember where or the name. How about you Huck,, you know anything about this style?? And yes I can't wait to see what you do with them Glass-job wise. Keep us posted. Lowel

He really needs to keep his artwork flush if it's gonna get glassed. I wonder if you could run a wooden roller or something over to mash it down into the foam a bit. Otherwise he needs to do his artwork after glassing.
Bit of a challenge but I am sure you will make it work and look great. Mashing it into the foam as Huck mentioned makes sense, but I would be nervous about possible damage to the art. Your best bet is probably a fill coat like you said. More than anything it will blunt the edges of the art. I'm thinking a squeeged coat of laminating resin would be the best bet. since these boards are for display; I would go with six ounce. It is thicker and after a filler/hotcoat would probably soften or make go away the edges of the art. Lighter cloth will accent the edges. Lowel

Was going to run with 6oz purely as it should be a bit easier to use. I'm going to squeegee the lam coat, try fill in some of the bumps. The board will be for display or riding.. what ever the buyers want.. :)
I'll let you know how it goes in a week or so..
gazahern, my opinion is that, a thin coat applied with spray gun will set in place the artwork and also smooth out the bumps. Then the glass job will be so damn easy.
I know, the rocker is all wrong...
This is a dashboard for a '60's motor coach to RV conversion. This was shaped by the cabinet builder that supplies me with my food for hollow wood boards. We are doing some swappin. I glass his nightmare dashboard, I get free wood, custom milled. He paid for all the materials as well. I used chop strand glass and vinyl ester resin, then body filler and high build primer. The client will have it final painted after he installs the gauges.
