I'm doing more variations on the high efficiency fins theme.
And yes, those side fins are set a long way from the rail. The reason being is that the board has a 16 1/2" wide tail, and I have set the spacing of the fins off the length of my foot instead, so my heel and toe apply pressure directly above each fin during a turn.
Aw yes. Those Redwood hot tubs and naked girls up on the California Coast with Van Morrison playing in the background.. I couldn't have a board like that around as a "Wall Hanger" or in the water. Brings back too many fond memories. Lowel

I've been moving the side fins in too, at about 2" so far. I don't see any negatives yet.
