Spring Board Challenge - completed entries

Rules?  We don’t need no stinking rules , this is surfboard anarchy man!

Yew, its 5’4" by 21" by 2 5/8" and around 32-33 ltrs

Low rocker of 3.5 in the nose and 2 in the tail. Slight single to double that sort of ends in a V out the tail. The quad set up is based on the Hanalie quad placements rather than the Mackee quads. I put a box in so i can run it as a single fin. I call it the “Sunny Comfort”, the comfy go to board for our sunny coast waves when its not to serious and a bit guttless. Hopefully it grovells and flies in a various range of conditions. - See more at: http://www.swaylocks.com/forums/build-thread-my-4th-board-start-to-finish-few-bits-missing#sthash.32vHPOMI.dpuf

I hope that link works…

The last pic is how excited i was after i had surfed this board a few times…

5´5"x20 1/4"x 2 1/2" mini cruiser

3.5" nose rocker, 1.5" tail rocker. Continuous rocker. Flat bottom with domed deck and rather full rails. 7" skinny wooden single glass on fin. Made from block EPS glassed with 6oz bottom and 6oz+6oz patch on top. No stringer.

I submit to you…The Under $50.00 Long Board build.

Shines like a diamond in a goats ass!

Welp, didn’t want to follow the resin master, but here goes:)

This is 8’x22"x3" from a Thrailkill rocker and outline template.  It was meant to help me chase fun waves that break in the distance. Not too big, not too small. It has vee throughout the board, going to flattish in the tail. The pictures make the finish look better then it is… Super stoked about it. Can’t thank Mr. Thrailkill enough for his advice and guidance in building this board. Took me several sessions to get her down, but she is real fun.

I foget…what’s the cut off date?  Been busy Or under the weather every weekend for two months now.

Here’s a Huck quote from your original thread:

“Looking it up, spring runs march 20 to June 21, so I suggest start anytime, but all boards submitted have to be done by June 21. Looking forward to some Swaylocks SBC 2015 build threads!”

Melikefish - could you tell me a bit more about your fin placement? I have an egg that I’m just about done with and have been toying with the idea of a 5 box set up… years later than everyone else but I’ve been on a decade-long single fin trip!

On June 21 all board building must stop…per the “rules”…SBC.

…and then we can start the Summer Bummer Board Build , and then the Fall Fallout, and the Winter Wipe Out !!!

My Contender is complete.

Submitting for you perusal.

Had a blast.

Back yard built . Currently in humbolt county

i’m new to building boards so treat me gently! this is number 4…if you saw where i made this you would laugh… a 4’x10’ garden shed with a natty old extension cord running out to it.

it’s mandala inspired 6’1x22x2.5. 1.5lb eps foam block cut with hotwire. stringerless with bamboo ‘springer’ and unidirectional carbon rails. exposed cork deck (not core cork!). Resin Research CE epoxy fast hardener. 4oz e, 6oz S deck, 4 and 4 bottom.

the cosmetics need ALOT of work. my pinlines suck and are way too wide. there is dirt in the lam as i don’t have room for a separate (clean) glassing area. BUT… the board rides amazing. have it set up with largish twin fin fronts and 3.25 longboard side bite trailers. Lots of drive and hold, but good pivot.

i haven’t been in a ‘real’ shaping bay to watch a pro go at it. everything about building this board i learned here. amazing that that some searching on sways and a little hand eye coordination can get you something to ride waves with!

here’s an SBC entry, but I’m too cheap to put up more than one picture at a time…  so here’s the cheap fin on the cheap board, and you can almost see the tailblock too.

It’s still spring…
