not give a shat what others think
not give a shat what others think
Really nice work, (I mean it)
Yeah, sorta like that shat don't stink!
I would rather be someone's shot of whiskey, than everyone's cup of tea.
No tears flowing over here. Clark closed in 2005. Swaylocks went crazy! Real Estate bubble popped in 08/09....SUP's saved the surfboard building industry....strange bedfellows..... things have slowed down, that's OK.......I took some basic skills from other trades..........now I'm here.....When people send me PM's I tell them to post it on the General Discussion. Fixed not broken.
Nice save, the Rusty will live to die another day!
I feel a disturbance on the dark side...
Surfaced from the underground to say...
Make Sway's great again!
Have a thick skin
Live like Jay....
Swaylock's is not "slipp'n away"..... Nope,,,, we are so far ahead of the curve sometimes we have to wait for the industry to catch up. I'm really suprised no one has started a thread about Darren Handley. Epoxicore. There's an article on Surfline..... The shaper and the person giving the interview throw out so much twisted mis-information.... it's really bad....
....and people on Sways have been doing this cutting edge stuff for over 10 years.....
get some foam....build a board....go surfing!
Holy crap..I fing this thread funny and awesome!!
I find it interesting the man that threw the first rock in this thread is the man that hasn't innovated since "1959" .
I can point out many instances where swaylocks has lead innovation in the industry. A few years back I was surfing with Rusty at Scripps.....we were talking about Swaylocks..he said he checks in every couple of days. He's doing intel....we are his lab rats.
Many have started there careers here, not knowing shit about boards..learning from scratch, taking our knowledge, and making a living out of it. Mandala Shapes, and Austin Surfboards come to mind...Good for them running with the ball.
I joined this place in 2002 or 2003?..not really sure. I wanted to share some knowledge, give back to the industry that at that time was full of witchcraft and voodoo about board building, that all. I ended up making about 5 really good friends (real friends, not cyber friends) Friend that I have traveled the world with surfing, camping, fished, drinking, breaking shit, etc, etc..real friends. and another 10-15 good friends that I see every year so.
So in my opinion if you are only using this place to learn where to put your fins on your wobbly shaped shitty surfboard you have missed the opportunity. Innovation is here, EPS, Timberflex, Compsand, etc, etc...there will be more. Its up to you to get out from under the PU/PE surfboards.
But with all that said, there is a high degree "Surf Theory" from land locked bull shit, non surfing white male over 55 years old.
My recommendation is the next time some one wants help with a build, ask them over, help them out...drink a beer or soda, make a friend for life......Innovate, innovate by showing..just not helping
You are such a thoughtful guy. I think highly of you as well...
Have we ever met?
May I wax your surfboard?
Swaylocks Surfboard Design Forum: thoughts & theories ... practical & theoretical

If that question was towards me?
I don't think we have ever met? I don't get to the Midwest much.
That is unfortunate.
It would be such an honor to wax your board.
BTW do not confuse basic math with science and/or theory.
It would be regrettable if there was another "beat down with numbers."
