He's got all the angles covered.
But if I'm not mistaken, didn't they start making boards for average surfers, "The fish guys"
I 99% sure I pre-sanded these ones here in Australia. (looks like candy to me, lol)
strange interveiw ,,,,,,,I glassed some lost boards for couple of years , did all sorts boards for average guys, huge range,
At the highest level of all professions the margins for error are narrow. I tend to agree with his overall sentiment. However, his delivery needs some polishing; As a garage shaper with only about 50 boards under my belt, built after work and on weekends and living not too far from Long Island, I feel like a shithead for some reason after listening to his rant. But I do this stuff because I love to do it.
Maybe I'll see some of you guys at the boardroom show.
Gunk -- You'll see me. Petec is set up next to Gene Cooper. I'll check in with Pete from time to time. He'll no where I am . Lowel
That which can be assorted without evidence was read in an illegal magazine.
Having listened to this man ramble through endless F1 analogies i can honestly say...asshat. Not a good ambassador for surfing and his comments are pretty detrimental. He also sounds a tad thick and has the arrogance to go with it. Matt, you are no rocket scientist mate or (F1 engineer for that matter)...so get off your carbon fibre, bat tail, resin tinted wooden legged, vectornet soapbox.
You mow foam like the rest of us (better at it undoubtedly) and make a pretty decent living out of it. A little humility wouldnt go a miss and maybe learn to show how a little respect for the industry and people that support and allows you to be in a position where you can actually express an attitude (poor or otherwise)......Jaysus
Must have given himself that nickname
No; It's not an ironing board.
i found it somewhat comical. the race car analogy was particularly funny.
Point taken that pro-level guys are the toughest customers. But fact is that Matt makes ALL his money making "domesticated" wide flat boards with pretty graphics. Which is fine. I really am inspired by alot of his flat wide average joe shapes. They work for 95% of us (me included). He loses money making high performance boards. I bet for every "high performance" shorty he sells to a paying customer, he gives away 5 for pros. His bread-and-butter is the "Domesticated Series". That's why this thing comes off a little silly to me.
one must wonder what the situation was just prior to that interview.
What I like is that it did get under my skin a bit. I like hearing top guys talk shit.
He's had a couple of drinks for sure, He probably was really enjoying the rant while it was hapening.
Not like he's a politician or anything important, he' a just a surfer, and there only surfboards.
...I bet he feels a bit squeamish listening back to it, sober, haha
He sounds like an Aussie tradie, not a F1 engineer
Good on him.
