Bill Anderson

According to Bob Haakenson, Santa Barbara legendary boat builder, Bill Anderson, has passed away this week.
Bob should know, as Bill’s shop was located behind Haakenson Fiberglass situated at 20 S. Kellogg Ave. in Goleta between the train tracks and cement factory. Bill was a stones throw past Bob’s glass shop.

Bill, well known for his fine crafted boats collaborated with George Greenough in his design making them available to sB locals and others seeking the unique design. Bill was respected among other established and legendary boat builders in the Santa Barbara area including Radon and Wilson boats, which have crafted fin dive and work boats used for decades in the commercial fishing industy.

Apparently Bill passed away in his sleep, and it came as a surprise to everyone that knew and survives him. He will be missed by many in our local community and beyond.

RIP and condolences to his family and friends. Didn’t know him, but admired his boats greatly. Would see one occasionally at the Ranch. Lowel
