Dreaming of getting a boat for certain spots that shall remain nameless...
I have never owned a boat and don't know where to start.
* Able to launch on sandy beach by myself or with 1 other person. I don't know how this even works and if somebody could explain this to me I'd really appreciate it. I'm am thinking some kind of trailer with sand tires that I can push/pull across the beach? Or maybe a boat small/light enough to just drag it to the water? Maybe carrying the motor separately and attaching at the shore?
* Able to carry up to 4 people and their boards.
* Smallest possible boat. Able to park it in front of my house. What size am I looking at? Obviously, bigger will fill the bill better but, I don't really need/want a large boat. We are talking short day trips here. Never overnight and never out of sight of land. Think no more than an hour or so 1 way.
I have been looking on craigslist at Zodiacs and aluminum boats in the 14' range with outboard motors. I like that Zodiacs seem smaller and lighter but I also like that the aluminum boats might be easier to build a board rack and mount it. How much engine would I need?
Again, I am completely clueless when it comes to boats so please talk down to me and educate me.
Thanks in advance.
