I'm really digging the blue board Exit98. Would you mind showing it from the bottom? What are the dimensions? Do you ride goofy foot(?)
Nice to see Coil doing some alternative craft. Asymmetricals have intrigued me ever since seeing my first one around 1973.
According to Mikki Dora Malibu went to the Dogs in 1964. The Chumash Indians will tell you it was 1664.
So I don’t know whether it was dumb luck or divine intervention, but I just scored a used Grom-sized Coil for my 11year old daughter. Still trying to process the fact that my child has a better board than I’ve ever owned. It’s an older generation board (grid with smooth finish) shaped by Kirk. We happened to be traveling in the area when it popped up online. Too good a price to pass up. Just the right size for her. Cleaned the dirt and old wax off to find it’s still in awesome condition. Just a little surface chipping on the tail that I can easily fix. Like I said, I’m still processing. I gotta figure out the picture thing, then I’ll post a pic.
No picture, no happen.
(Good for you and your daughter)
all the best
Personally I'm always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught. - Winston Churchill
Methinks you're "processing" this the wrong way; what's happened here sounds to me like the perfect excuse has just fallen in your lap.
Now, when your missus complains about the new Coil that you've just ordered for yourself arrives, you can turn to her with wide, innocent, puppy-dog eyes and quivering lips, point towards your daughter and plaintively proclaim "but she's got one!!".
Kids use this kind of argument all the time and it pays off for them, so why shouldn't you benefit from it too?
Surfercross, you absolutely must give a ride report on that board.
All the best
@Greg: Sorry, still haven't gotten the time to figure out picture uploading. I'll get to it eventually.
@ LIT: I like the way you think.
@ surfercross: Dims?
I am too old and too poor a surfer I guess
5'11" 19 7/8" 2 3/16"
It has a wide ass tail for wind waves and a huge concave fcsii
fins are an option, i liked XL fins
I had one tail repair that yellowed a bit and is in the last 1 inches a hair more bumped
New sticks! Kirk was amazing to work with and these boards turned out amazing. Smooth finish on both. 6'6" at 38L and 5'10" at 39.8 or something. Only one surf on them so far on the 5'10" in junky waves but even then it just felt right.
