I took Mako's advise and drilled and tapped the shaft collar and then drilled and tapped another hole into the planer body to act as a stop. I used a dab of epoxy on the and screwed in the set screw that would act as the stop pin. Worked perfectly.
I used set screws that way if anything needs repair I have the ability to take it apart.

With everthing working as planned and it time to wrap this build up. Anyone is is free to ask any questions and I would be more than happy to answer.
First, let me show the action on the depth adjustment, it is just about a 1/4 turn from zero to full cut. I am very happy with the results!

The only thing I may change is replace the set screw on the shaft collar with a lever.

Looks great. I still get contacted constantly on the videos I did years ago. I love that people are continually making /progressing the mods for the better. I love that knob and will switch to using them myself.
