FOILFoil is the change in thickness of a board from the nose to the tail, or of a fin from the leading edge to the trailing edge. See S deck. More technically, a Foil is a device that provides reactive forces when in motion relative to a surrounding fluid; foils can be accurately described by their chord, camber, thickness, and thickness distribution.
Can also refer to curved surfaces of a fin;

*Note that the center fin is foiled both sides, the side fins are foiled on one side*
