Hot Coat

Hot coat - a layer of resin with SA added to allow sanding, that is added on top of the laminated blank/fiberglass. Called a hot coat because it is typically catalyzed with somewhat more catalyst so that it cures quicker, i.e. is a hot mix. Note that this is literally true as well, more catalyst can cause resin to become TOO hot. See exothermic reaction.
