Layer of material applied to a prepreg layup surface that is removed from the cured laminate prior to bonding operations leaving a clean, resin-rich surface ready for bonding. Peel ply is a polyester or nylon cloth material applied to the completed laminate while the resin is still wet. It will not adhere to the layup thus allowing it to be peeled off at a later time. Peel ply can be used when another layer is to be laminated at a later time. Peel ply also absorbs excess resin from the composite.
