Thanks John. That would be a good way to find out what you were getting if you knew what good cloth looked like but this will be my first attempt at glassing. I was hoping someone here had already tired it.
Joe - There are different weaves and finishes some better than others for sufboards. The very last of a roll of 6 oz I had left bizarre zebra stripe discolorations in my glass jobs. Hardly visible, but in the right light semi-opaque stripes are evident. The rest of the roll was fine - just the last few yards had this. Ambrose told me it might have been stressed too tight when they started rolling on to the cardboard tube. I wouldn't be surprised if the cloth going for a buck a yard isn't flawed in some way. To be safe, stick with Fiberglass Supply or Foam EZ. It might cost a little more, but what they sell is definitely what you need. For 6 or 7 yards, a couple bucks difference won't kill you. They ship fast and are very reasonable. Plus they helped us out big time with the Swaylock's raffle. The last thing you want is to screw up a nice shaped blank with crappy glass.
I looked at that except the guy doesnt have any info about it, to him its just cloth. es team manager www.ovellesurf.com Ovelle Surfboards www.hardinsurf.com Hardin Surfboards http://paradoxdistribution.com
If there is time, ask him to mail you a small sample of the cloth.
