Hey Moderator's i think this guy meant to post this
on Surfermag.com... maybe you could help him out
and move it??? they would probably care about this
over there.
The rules of Swaylock's Discussion Forums are pretty simple.
The rules are:
1) No personal attacks.
2) Stick to the topics of the various forums.
3) Please NO advertising in The General Discussion.
4) Please keep things you want to sell, promote, advertise etc, in the classifieds or the Marketplace Forum.
sorry guys - i didnt really realize or look into the fact that there was a better spot to mention the board on the swaylocks site.
No problem. Those are Mike's (Swaylock) rules I posted, and I just figure since he's nice enough to keep this place up & running for us to enjoy, we ought to try to follow them...
good police work! you should get a gold star! maybe i didnt realize that there was a better place for it on the swaylocks site.
the surfermag comment was lame!
i do know a lot of shapers and board builders might be stoked to own and collect a board from someone like kelly. i know that when i went to flippy hoffmans house on beach road he had boards from all kinds of people hanging up, including tom carrols gun from his pipe masters win.
just trying to offer it up to people that appreciate our culture and the people that make it what it is today.
and if i was the whore that you are insinuating i am - i would have posted it on surfermag - but you wont see it there - because i didnt put it there!
sorry if i've offended you. the surfermag comment was meant to
maybe raise a few chuckles...
as far as "our culture and the people that make it what it is today"
in my opinion, Kelly Slater has as much to do with the undoing of "our"
culture as he does with adding to it... multi-million dollar paid athletes
who are told when, where, and how to surf and who are promoting
mega-corp companies that put the all-mighty dollar in front of respect,
pride in craftsmanship, and surf culture are not part of what makes the
culture that i am a part of what it is today.
from what i've seen/heard from K.S. he seems to be a nice, polite,
hard-working guy and i cannot blame him for the path that he and many
others like him have chosen. BUT, their careers do little to perpetuate
and or enrich true surf culture.
i apologize again if i have offended you, it was not my intention. you have
the right, just as i do (thank you swaylocks) to post on this forum. i hope
that my comments won't keep you from posting in the future.
actually i do agree with you about some of the negative aspects of the sport today - it is nice that they can get paid well because they really do inspire us and take things to a new level. - but man i went to the billabong place in irvine and it seemed weird and kinda sad - it was just this big rectangle box with a cube-farm in it and didnt seem to have one thing soulful about it ( altough i am sure there are people there who really do love the sport) - plus how many times can you watch someone do an air - its all starting to look the same - but man those things are not easy to do.
sorry for being a smart ass!
hey chris p sorry to burst your bubble, but things move forward... good and bad... its never gonna be like it was years ago.... your choices are resist or get with it.... b.
no bubble bursted.
i choose to resist.
nothing wrong with being idealistic.
woah - Kelly only has one board? whats he going to ride now?
the main issue is Kelly Slaters board only works for , uh Kelly Slater.
Thank you Capt. Obvious . . .
been wanting to say that for the few weeks since the original post . . .
