I lived in Huntington during those years and I remember seeing Preston Murray and the Quik guys killing it on Mccoys. Nothing wrong with recognizing something most magazines have tried to forget. Got to keep the current crop of ad paying fragil ego and over hyped board manifacturers happy. Easy blanks, all the boards look basically the same and most of the surfers surf basically the same. As for surftech. A good way for some of these guys to reap some reward while surftech is alive and before they go in Walmart, but no popout will beat a real Mccoy, a real Harbour, or a real anything else.( exept maybe a real Lost.) wink.
Hey has anyone seen the outline of a fat penguin? .....Ok, OK..I'm just kidding! How about a surf tech fat penguin? Now, that would take some marketing skills!
Lee, you haven't specified that you've tried this board, and it's impossible for me to accept your criticism when it's based on a subjective, emotional, aesthetic preference.
The straightening of outline, a reduction of curve angle noseward, is something I see in other boards, too, though in different areas. I've always thought that such outlines, along with other shape factors, defined the function of the board shape.
Settle down guys....Not sure if you got solosurfers "hint", but you're all talking to two different "Lee's" here. The real Lee (LeeD) and the Troll Lee (LeeDD). Not to say they're not one in the same, but who knows.....
"Settle down"...whatever do you mean, Tenover? Your "peacemaking" is purposeless, supercilious. We have a difference of opinion, regardless of the I.D. of the writer. Are you suggesting that one can't have an opinion, or question the objectivity of others' opinions?
No Laconic, that's not what I mean at all, and I'm not trying to "peace talk" to you guys. ....GEEZ. I was just letting you know, in case you didn't happen to notice, that you were arguing, more than likely, with two different people, with one being a troll who's just trying to instigate you. Whatever, carry on.
Whats up Laconic, Glad to see you could make it. You too ten over, no worries. Mccoys record and influence speak for themselves. There are many other influencial shapers as well.
well i hope this isnt offensive ,but i rode one today, and i rode one last year ,same shape different constructions ,,,,surftech was the worst board ive ridden in years if geoff new how bad it really was he would freak ,check the post on 2 epoxy blank questions ....i wont bother repeating myself...
Understood, Tenover, excuse my spark. Please be aware that my response was to LeeD, not the suspected impostor whose posts do not merit anyone's responses.
Err... the troll LeeDD here.
If you read the original post, there is NO reference to the workings of McCoy boards, only that the template is slightly "askew".
Heck, I never rode one, as far as I know.
Surprisingly, almost all of my best working boards had some kind of shaping flaw, or some kind of glassing flaw. A botched glass job, like some of mine, doesn't affect the workings of the board.
NOWHERE did I ever comment or make any comments on how the Nuggest work. Please read my original post again, and you will see I was only commenting on the assymetry of the template from the widepoint forwards, and from the wide point back.
Notice also my previous comments on the wooden fish template. I made NO reference to it's working/surfing abilities, only that it looks like a primitive template shape job.
Looks has little to do with function, as you all know.
